PERINGILLUP SCHOOL

In 1908 local settlers were asking for a school. They included the families of S. March, Craig, Cousins, Bond, N. Seegers, Newby, H. Kindred. S. Seggers, D. Berio, Della-Bosca and W. Bario. In was expected to be 10 boys and 8 girls of school age.

Some children from the Peringillup area went to the school by train. The train was often late, especially at night, with the children having to walk home.

In 1909 the school was approved. Five acres was reserved for the school site. The original contract was cancelled and the decision made to erect a Portable Tent School and Quarters in 1910. This was completed on 23rd April and the school opened on 16th May. Furniture ex Rockwell and desks ex Broomehill.
